Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to play all of my Warrior cards during battle? No. A player may choose to pass at any point during a battle. If a player passes before playing any Warrior cards, his opponent automatically wins the battle. If a player passes when the two active Warrior cards are tied, his opponent may play a second consecutive tying Warrior card (if they have one). Instead of a draw, the second tying card is considered a decisive win. This overrides the normal winning card condition. This second tying card is known as the "overwhelming odds" rule. A single tie is known as the "holding the line" rule. How do I use the Skirmish Action? The Skirmish Action is meant to be used early on during battle. The Action requires that a player have other Warrior cards that can be properly swapped. If a player waits until they have few Warrior cards left in hand, they are less likely to have a valid Warrior card to use in the swap. It is valid to play another Warrior card of the same type from hand as the active Warrior card being swapped. Note: It is recommended that the card being swapped remain on the table until the replacement card from hand is brought into play. Some background: A skirmish in ancient battles, was often a maneuver to provoke attack, or test the strength and resolve of enemy forces. It was a quick hit and run maneuver often used before the larger engagements began. This back and forth maneuvering between players using the Skirmish Action simulates this effect. It can also be used to draw out more powerful Actions from an opponent. For instance, the Surround Action defeats a Skirmish Action. This would remove the Surround from later stages of battle. Can I choose which Warrior cards to restock from my reserve pile at the end of battle? Yes. One strategy would be to select all of the weaker Warrior cards and discard them during the normal turn phase. Alternately, select a group of stronger Warrior cards when a valuable piece of land is up for grabs. If the Ambush Action is cancelled, does a battle end? No. Battles cannot be cancelled, even though the Ambush Action that started one can be. This simply means the attacker must play a Warrior card first. How exactly does a voided Action become active again? If an Action is defeated, its ability is voided. In other words, it no longer has any effect in the battle. If however, the defeating Action is cancelled or defeated, the voided Action becomes active again. Here is an example taken from our sample game session:
