We have received a number of questions about how Battlefields of Olympus is played. Here are a number of turns from a game of Battlefields of Olympus. The game is between two of our favorite gods from Greek mythology.

1. Zeus and Hera start with 4 Warrior cards each.

2. Zeus goes first and decides to draw a Fate card. He finds a Flank Action card and puts it in his hand.

3. Hera draws a Fate card and finds a 2 point Meadow Land Trophy card. She places it on the land pile and draws a Warrior card. Since she already has 4 Warrior cards in hand, she starts a reserve pile with the newly drawn Warrior card.

4. Zeus feels it is too early to fight for a 2 point Meadow and draws a Fate card instead. He finds a Skirmish Action card and puts this in his hand.

5. Hera draws a Fate card and finds a Surround card. She puts that in her hand.

6. Zeus draws a Fate card and finds a 6 point Olympus Land Trophy card and places it on top of the 2 point Meadow already on the land pile. Zeus draws a Warrior card. Since he too has 4 Warrior cards in hand, he starts a reserve pile with the newly drawn Warrior card.

7. Hera feels she needs more Action cards before attempting to battle for the Olympus Land Trophy card, so she decides to draw a Fate card. She draws a 3 point Bridge Land Trophy card and places it on top of the 6 point Olympus card. She then draws a Warrior card and places it on her reserve pile.

8. Zeus and Hera continue to draw Action cards for the next few turns. Zeus draws an Ambush and Rally. Hera draws a Skirmish and Scout.

9. Zeus then draws a Fate card and discovers it is the Ares (God of War) card. He places it next to the land pile and draws a Warrior card, which he places on his reserve pile. Since he drew Ares when there is already a land pile, Zeus must declare battle and play a Warrior card first. The battle is for the 3 point Bridge.

Before battle Zeus has an Ambush, Flank, Rally and Surround Actions. Hera has a Skirmish, Elite, Scout and Surround Actions. Zeus has 1 Spearmen, 1 Swordsmen and 2 Archers. Hera has 1 Swordsmen, 1 Archers, 1 Cavalry and 1 Heavy Infantry.

BATTLE ORDER:

a. Zeus plays the Ambush Action forcing Hera to play a Warrior card first.

b. Hera plays her weakest Warrior, her Swordsmen. She now has 3 Warrior cards left. It is now Zeus' turn.

c. Zeus plays a Swordsmen to tie Hera's Warrior card. Zeus has 3 Warrior cards left. It is now Hera's turn.

d. Hera plays her Skirmish Action and declares that she is about to withdraw her Swordsmen to play another.

e. Zeus plays his Flank Action and defeats the Skirmish. It is still Hera's turn.

f. Hera plays her Archers to beat Zeus' Swordsmen. She now has 2 Warrior cards left. It is now Zeus' turn.

g. Zeus plays his Archers and ties Hera's Archers. He now has 2 Warrior cards left. It is Hera's turn.

h. Hera plays her Elite Action to turn the tie into a win for her Archers. It is now Zeus' turn.

i. Zeus plays his Surround Action, defeating Hera's Elite Action. It is now Hera's turn again.

j. Hera plays her Surround Action, canceling Zeus' Surround Action. Both Surround Actions are removed from play and discarded. Hera's Elite Action becomes active again. Her Archers win and it is now Zeus' turn.

k. Zeus plays his last Archers card, tying Hera's Archers. He now has 1 Warrior card left. It is Hera's turn.

l. Hera plays her Heavy Infantry, beating Zeus' Archers. She has 1 Warrior card left. It is now Zeus' turn.

m. Zeus plays his Rally Action. He discards his last Spearmen Warrior card and draws a fresh Warrior card from the deck. He draws a Swordsmen card. He has no valid card to play against Hera's Heavy Infantry and must pass.

n. Hera has the last winning Warrior card and wins the battle. She receives the topmost 3 point Bridge Land Trophy card.

o. The Ares card goes into a separate discard pile for easy reference.

p. Both players draw a Warrior card and place it on their reserve piles.

q. Zeus draws another Warrior card because he lost the battle.

r. Both players look through and restock Warrior cards from their reserve pile.

s. Since Zeus lost the battle, he begins the next turn.
